Walkabye Urban Buggies Review

December 19, 2009

Who is Walkabye?

We are parents, caregivers and role models, that love to enjoy precious moments with our children. We love them deeply and always want what is best for them. We understand that a healthy environment is vital to their development and growth. We want our children to be safe, and they want to feel safe. These are the inspirations behind Walkabye.

We recieved the Walkabye Terrani in light coral and immediatley put it to use, (it seems we are always going out some where) This time was to our Santa Clause Parade. being cold here we though it would be the perfect time to test it out with the Apron that comes with it, it simply attaches to the stroller and keeps your little one warm and covered. it was great with that and a blanket Holden didnt get cold at all while we were standing outside watching the parade.

The Terrani is available with an infant to toddler package and comes with both the Infant bassinet andd the toddler seat which are changeable. The Walkaby Terrani has a High Endurance frame, Adjustable metal foot rest, Front swivel Wheels, Full Spring Suspension to give a smooth ride, large All-Terrain tires for use anywhere (even easily in the 2 feet of snow we have recieved in the last 3 days..blah) , A very firm and durable foot operated parking break, foam insulated adjustable handle, and folds to 36 1/4″ with the rear wheels.

While using it as a bassinet there is lots of space for your little one to stretch out, and the bedding is made from 100% cotton fabric with a padded mattress. The bassinet comes with a matching apron, a matching diaper bag, which I am so in love with and we use it all the time, it has a long messenger bag style strap so i can sling it crosswise over my shoulder if i need to or attach it to the stroller handle with the two snaps on the straps. There is a changing mat in the diaper bag that is large and more padded then one I have ever had. It also comes with a rain cover for the bassinet which is a must for any stroller, I just wish it came with one for the toddler seat.

The toddler seat is large and roomy (I even had to use it to put both babies in to go to school the other day and it held them very well but man do I need a double stroller lol. The toddler seat reclines to three different positions simply by zipping and unzipping the zippers on the side. There is a 5 point safety harness, hold bar and a large canopy that locks down which is great for babies who keep trying to push their hood up. We already mentioned the matching footmuff for the toddler seat which I love because it keeps the kids warm when we go for walks even now in the winter.

This stroller has a couple of downfalls such as to get it to fold flat you need to remove the front wheels, however removing them is quick and painless, just occasionally inconvenient. I wish that folding it was easier although it seems to be working itself in the more we use it and the more we fold it, Lee can get it to fold on the first shot but it takes me a couple of tries and a lot of strength. Another thing I wish were a little easier about it is switching from infant to toddler mode. With two “babies” we never know who is going to need that stroller but we cannot use the infant bassinet on it because we can’t quickly change to the toddler seat without a screwdriver, the toddler seat has two screws which attach the top of the seat to the handlebars.

Other then those minor inconvinences though that are not enough to push me away and not use the stroller we really do love this stroller as do the kids. Not only does Holden love this stroller because of it smooth ride and the apron to keep him warm, but Maddisyn also enjoys riding in it because it is so roomy, lots of strollers out there seem to cramp her and she’s not at all impressed by that but the Terrani gives her all kinds of room to be comfortable even when in her snow suit and with her favourite doll beside her.

We received from them the Dual Cup Holder & Storage Pescara Bag from Carry You.  The pescara bag is pronounced pes-ca-ra (pes-ka’ra) and is in simplier terms a saddle bag.  Now as I said in my other post storage is important to me, and so is convinence.  The pescara bag from Carry You offers me both.  I can bring it into my house, put in the diapers and wipes, a bottle in one pocket a sippy cup in the other and then off we go.  It has a convinent carry handle so that I can carry it around with me and not have to worry about leaving it on my stroller and carrying my supplies to it.
It has storage pockets to organize blankets, jackets, keys, cell phones, pacifiers, and toys.  There is a touch fastener pocket to keep your items secure int he bag.  2 large cup holders for bottles of water, sippy cups, baby bottles or anythign else you can imagine.  It folds down with your stroller so you do not need to take it off if you don’t want to.  It can even help to stabilize umbrella strollers when mounted onto the side of them.
It attaches to the stroller with quick release velcro which also makes it convienent for taking off to go into your home or into the bathroom at shopping centers if your stroller does not fit.  It has multiple ways to attach to stroller: On the side, on the handlebars facing out, on the handlebars facing up, or on the lower back of the stroller.  You could even use this in the back seat of your car if you needed some sort of organization there.  The dimensions on the Carry You pescara bag are 15.5″ x 9.5″ x 3″ wide which makes it perfect for most strollers.

Kolcraft Contours Options Stroller Review & Giveaway ENDED

November 13, 2009

Contours® Options® 3 Wheeler is all about attracting attention. Its reversible seat with suspension always gives baby a perfect view and comfortable ride!

We received the Kolcraft Contours Options 3 Wheeler stroller for review and wow, I have never had a stroller that I liked as much as I like this one with my other kids and wish I would have.  It comes with a carseat adapter as well it comes with a toddler seat so it is very usable from birth up and the only stroller you will ever need.  The unique floating seat has been designed with suspension to give baby a comfortable ride.  It has an 8″ single front wheel and 12″ never flat rear wheels.

The stroller folds super easy by simply pulling up on the triggers on the side of the stroller, and then when folded the free-stand allows the stroller to stand up on its own.

The Kolcraft Contours 3 Wheeler stroller has a removable parent tray with two spots for drinks and an opening in between to place your keys, cellphone, pacifiers or anything else you need close at hand.  The front bar on the childs seat removes quickly for fast and easy access to your kids which is most important to me when my little ones are sleeping.

The seat comes with an infant headrest to protect your newborns head and has a large canopy that sadjusts in all directions to block the sun.  There is  a large storage basket underneath the stroller which as any parent knows is important to store coats, blankets, and any other gear you may need to carry around with you.  The stroller has a height adjustable 5 point harness for safety and even has padded belt covers for comfort, I hate the belt rubbing against my little ones neck and this prevents that.  Fabric is constructed of a wind resistant and easy wipe high density nylon blend. Its brushed treatment adds softness while still being durable.
The carseat adapter is very convienent and fits a wide variety of carseats by simply placing them on to the adapter and then using the nylon buckles that are stored in very convinent little bags on the sides of the stroller for when not in use.  I love being able to take Holdens carseat right out of the van and put him onto the stroller rather then taking him in and out and perhaps waking him or making him cold or wet.
When we are going to be out for longer periods or when we go for walks I prefer to put Holden in the actual stroller itself and of course we use it with Maddisyn as a normal stroller as well since she is too old for the infant carseat.  What I love the most about the toddler seat part of this is that i can turn it so that Holden is facing out and can see stuff but when I know he is getting tired I can turn him around and he faces me so that he not overstimulated and will fall asleep looking at me knowing I am right there with him.
If i was asked to give this stroller a rating I would give it a 9/10, why only a 9 you ask, because I wish it came with a childs cupholder/tray as well.   Other then that it is an amazing stroller and does all I could ask for and more.  For those with more then one child there is also a Contours Options Tandem stroller which just so happens to be up for giveaway on my friend Dee’s blog Two Of A Kind Working On A Full House.  You can go HERE to enter the giveaway for the Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem Double Stroller, it ends on 11/25 and is open to US only.

Think-king Stroller cup holder and hooks Review & Giveaway ENDED

November 13, 2009
When I was pregnant with Holden I did a ton of research on double strollers for Holden and Maddisyn knowing that without one I would be stir crazy and housebound.  In all my research one thing that was really important with cup holders and storage space.  The only problem was I found most strollers I really wanted to buy did not have a cup holder and i was not sure if I was going to allow that to be a deal breaker for me.  In the end I bought a Phil & Teds stroller with the doubles kit, it did not have a cup holder.  Thus began my hunt for a cup holder that I thought would work for me.  I really only needed it to hold my waterbottle or perhaps my keys so I did not need anything huge.  We tried a couple but because of the design and the way they stretched across the handlebar it did not really work for us, we could not get our drinks in easily, then we found Think-King.
The Soft Buggy Cup holder is a cup holder and “everything pocket” that fits most strollers.  I love that it will not only work on my stroller but next summer when we buy a bike trailer to start biking with the kids it will also fit onto my bike so I can bring my drink with me easily then as well.  It also fits onto most strollers, scooters, wheelchairs and beds.
It has easy to attach velcro straps which is great because I can switch it to my umbrella stroller if I need to use that one instead, is sturdy and will not tip over, shake loose or pop off.  With my Phil & Teds it is important to me to know that things will not fall on Holdens head when he is in his double seat.  We have used it with softdrinks from McDonalds, cans and bottles of pop and even my stainless water bottles and it is not going anywhere.  Best of all is that it is easy to clean, as a mom I find myself always looking for easy to clean.  It is a soft material so it flattens when the stroller is folded so you don’t need to take it on and off and worry about losing it.
Another thing I mentioned was storage space in the stroller.  I like to be able to put my kids coats and stuff underneath but then that leaves me carrying all our bags or my purse when we are out shopping and buy stuff.  Think-King has a solution for that too.
The Might Buggy Hook is an ideal hook for a diaper bag, purse or anything you want to hang from a stroller.  It features a strong and lightweight aluminum hook that won’t break.  It has no clip system so I can take stuff off and on with one hand, as a mom sometimes one hand is all I have so this is for sure a plus in my books.  It has a deep Ushape so it can hold extrawide purse handles/straps.  It is easy to attach as well with velcro straps and is non-slip so it will not move easily, trust me I hve tried to slide it and it does not go anywhere.  I have seen other hooks like this but they are long and hold the bags closer to the stroller giving me more security and also more ease when hanging bags above holdens head.

~BUY IT~
Go to Think-King and buy the Soft Buggy Cup holder for $14.99 or the Might Buggy Hooks in a 2 pack for $14.99.  Again these would make perfect stocking stuffers (I know I would have loved to get one in my stocking)

~WIN IT~

Think-King is going to give one of my readers a set of the Might Buggy Hooks and a Soft Buggy Cup Holder.

Maclaren Stroller Recall

November 10, 2009

Maclaren is recalling at least 1 million umbrella strollers because of a potential hazard to children’s fingers. A side hinge mechanism poses the risk of cutting or amputating a child’s fingers when the stroller is being opened or closed, the British company said Monday.

The voluntary recall applies to all Maclaren strollers sold in the U.S. since they were introduced in 1999.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Maclaren have received reports of 15 incidents in which children were hurt over the past ten years.

The affected models include Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, Techno XLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller, according to the stroller company. The strollers, which are manufactured in China, are sold nationwide.

Maclaren, in cooperation with the CPSC, is providing consumers and retailers free repair kits which will cover a joint on the faulty hinge mechanism.

Consumers should stop using the strollers immediately and call Maclaren toll-free at (877) 688-2326, the company said.

SO FAR THIS RECALL IS ONLY IN THE US BUT IF I HEAR IT EXTENDS TO CANADA I WILL POST FOR MY CANADIAN READERS.
